On 09/03/20, at approximately 01:51 AM, officers responded to the area of E. Capitol Expressway and Senter Road to investigate a major injury collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed the following: A 36-year-old male was driving a 2001 Lexus eastbound on Capitol Expressway at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and collided into a tree. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
On 09/06/20 at approximately 12:23 PM, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This is the City’s 30th traffic fatality of 2020.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
