On 09/21/20, at approximately 05:09 AM, Officers responded to the area of N. 6th Street and Santa Clara Street for a stabbing incident. When they arrived they located Victim David Perez suffering from at least one stab wound. Victim Perez was transported to a local hospital by ambulance; shortly after arriving he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
An extensive follow-up investigation by homicide detectives led to the identification of Suspects Avila, Messenger, and Alvarez. Detectives obtained murder warrants for the suspects. On Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020, the San Jose Police Department's Covert Response Unit (CRU) located and arrested the three suspects in Milpitas, CA. The suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Jail for murder.
This was the City's 29th homicide of 2020.
