National Night Out 2020

National Night Out is an annual crime prevention event and community-building campaign that is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the San Jose Police Department. Over 38 million people across the country are expected to participate in National Night Out efforts to strengthen partnerships between neighbors and local law enforcement agencies.

Due to the onset of the pandemic this year’s event will be a live city-wide virtual event through our department’s Facebook page San Jose Police Department’s Facebook Live National Night Out. You are invited to participate virtually through Facebook with your neighbors throughout San José in celebration of National Night Out on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020 at 6:30 PM!  

National Night Out is designed to:

• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships
• Heighten crime prevention awareness
• Generate support for, and participation in, local crime prevention efforts

On Tuesday, October 6th, 2020, neighborhoods participating in National Night Out throughout San José are asked to join in a virtual city-wide effort to strengthen their community by logging on Facebook and taking part in the virtual festivities from the comfort of their own homes. Light up your street by turning on outside lights and spending the evening online with your community and local police department.

Join us for an evening full of crime prevention tips, community member messages, music, giveaways, and fun!

Be sure to help us capture the meaning of National Night Out and strengthen your community spirit with the first ever 2020 San José Police Department National Night Out Photo Contest! Take a photo with your friends, family, and/or neighbors. Post your photos online publicly through Facebook or Instagram using #SJPDNNO2020. Contest starts now and will end on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 @ 11:59 PM PST. This contest is not sponsored by Facebook or Instagram. Top 10 photos will win a SJPD Giveaway Basket! Winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020 during the San Jose Police Department’s Facebook Live National Night Out event. We will contact you directly if you are a winner! Be sure to tune in! We cannot wait to see all your amazing photos! You do not have to be a current Neighborhood Watch group to participate. National Night Out is for everyone!
