SJPD Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision

On October 11, 2020 at approximately 6:09 PM Officers responded to the area of 1690 Story Road to investigate an auto versus pedestrian collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An adult female drove into the parking lot and attempted to park her vehicle, a 2009 Ford F-150. She accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to travel forward into a pedestrian and a food trailer.  The adult male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. This morning at approximately 2:00 AM, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The uninjured driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

This is the 38^th fatal collision incident for 2020 and the 39^th victim.

This is the 16th auto versus pedestrian fatal collision for 2020.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
