***UPDATE*** SJPD Investigates a Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision

UPDATE: During the course of the investigation, the vehicle located was eliminated from the investigation. Detectives are requesting the public's assistance with locating the Suspect vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a possible 1996-2000 silver two-door or four-door Honda Civic similar to the image below. The vehicle will have minor to moderate front-end damage and is missing the right rearview mirror.

On 12/23/2020 at approximately 7:34 PM, Officers responded to the area of Monterey Highway and Palm Avenue to investigate a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle versus an adult bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A vehicle was traveling northbound on Monterey Highway near Palm Avenue when it struck a bicyclist traveling in the same direction. Medics arrived to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision.

This is the 45th fatal collision incident, and the 46th victim of 2020.
