SJPD Investigating Traffic Fatality

At 1:46 PM, Officers responded to the 3600 Block of Monterey Highway to investigate an auto versus pedestrian collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

The driver was attempting to move a truck off a trailer as a juvenile female jumped onto the trailer, directly in front of the truck. The truck subsequently rolled forward and collided with the juvenile. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The driver is cooperating fully with the investigation.

This is the 47th fatal traffic collision and 48th victim of 2020. It is also the 20th auto versus pedestrian fatality for this year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim's identity and notify next of kin.
