SJPD Investigating Homicide #1

On January 9th, 2021 at approximately 7:31pm, Officers responded to the area of Woz Way and Highway 87 on a report of a person shot. Officers from the California Highway Patrol were in the area and were flagged down by a citizen who reported the shooting in the homeless encampment at that location.

When our Officers arrived, they found an adult male in a tent suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Life saving measures were taken at the scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury.

There are currently no suspects identified or apprehended. The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

This is the City's 1st homicide of 2021.
