On January 31st, 2021, at approximately 4:27am patrol units responded to a call of a vehicle versus bicyclist collision in the area of S. 1st Street and Reed Street. When they arrived they located the downed bicyclist. Medical aid and life saving measures were rendered. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
The preliminary investigation revealed the following: The adult male bicyclist was riding southbound on S. 1st Street when he was struck by a dark colored Chevrolet Silverado type truck. The truck was traveling the wrong way going northbound in the southbound lanes. The truck fled the scene and has not been located.
We are asking for the public's assistance in locating this vehicle. It is described as a dark colored, black or blue, newer Chevrolet Silverado truck. It has a cover over the bed. It will have front end damage.
This is the 2nd fatal traffic collision and 2nd victim of 2021.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim's identity and notify next of kin.
