On February 9th, 2021 at approximately 2:09 AM, Officers responded to the 1400 block of East Santa Clara Street on a report of a person down. When they arrived, they located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.
An extensive follow-up investigation by SJPD Homicide Detectives led to the identification of three suspects. On Tuesday, March 16th, 2021, the San José Police Department's Covert Response Unit (CRU) with the assistance of the MERGE Unit, located the suspects and took all three into custody. Suspect #3 is a juvenile. All three have been charged with the murder of Tong Nguyen and a gang enhancement.
This was the City's 4th homicide of 2021.
