SJPD Arrests Armed Suspect

On March 29th, 2021, at approximately 11:42 AM, San José Police Officers responded to the 3100 block of Alum Rock Avenue on a report of an adult male in possession of a handgun. Officers arrived and located suspect Sanchez, who had a handgun tucked in his waistband that was visible. The suspect fled from Officers on foot, and eventually barricaded in a residence on Millar Avenue.

SJPD patrol Officers, with the assistance of the Special Operations Division and the Tactical Negotiations Unit, set a perimeter around the residence and established dialogue with the suspect. At one point while barricaded, the suspect fired at least one round inside the residence. On March 30th, at approximately 3:10 AM, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was a wanted felon, absconding from his parole. He was found in possession of live ammunition and two ghost guns inside the residence. Further investigation by Assaults Unit Detectives linked the suspect to a shooting that occurred in San José on March 11th, 2021. (Case 21-070-0052)

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, negligent discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest, and a parole violation warrant.
