On May 11th, 2021, at approximately 7:54 PM, Officers responded to the intersection of Trimble Road and Zanker Road to investigate a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
An adult male motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Trimble Road through the intersection with Zanker Road. A 2016 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Zanker Road, against the red light at the intersection with Trimble Road, and struck the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene. He was subsequently arrested for felony driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter.
This is the 17th fatal traffic collision, and 18th victim of 2021.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
