On May 27th, 2021, at approximately 9:26 PM, Officers responded to the area of Capitol Expressway and Seven Trees Boulevard to investigate a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An adult male pedestrian was crossing the street, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a blue 2011 Jeep Cherokee traveling in a westbound direction. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with the traffic investigation.

This is the 19th fatal traffic collision, and 20th victim of 2021. It is also the fifth pedestrian fatality this year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
