On May 28th, 2021, at approximately 9:21 PM, Officers responded to the area of Monterey Highway and Valleyhaven Way to investigate a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An adult male pedestrian was crossing Monterey Highway, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a dark grey 2020 Jeep Wrangler traveling in a northbound direction. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with the traffic investigation.

This is the 20th fatal traffic collision, and 21st victim of 2021. It is also the sixth pedestrian fatality this year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
