On July 9th, at approximately 5:11 PM, Officers responded to the area of Kooser Road and Camden Avenue for a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A male juvenile was walking across Camden Avenue, in a marked crosswalk, against a ‘do not walk’ signal/symbol when he was struck by a 2018 Mercedes sports utility vehicle. The vehicle was traveling in a southbound direction on Camden Avenue and had a green light at the intersection.
The male juvenile was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
The adult male driver of the Mercedes remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as a factor in this collision.
This is the 26th fatal traffic collision, and 27th victim of 2021. This is also pedestrian death number 9 for the year.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
