On July 14th, 2021, at approximately 2:27 AM, Officers responded to the area of McKee Road and Jose Figueres Avenue to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
An elderly adult male was standing in the eastbound lanes of McKee Road, outside of a crosswalk, when he was struck by a 2020 Subaru sedan that was traveling in an eastbound direction. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving at the hospital the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The adult male driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. No drugs or alcohol are suspected as a factor in this collision.
This is the 27th fatal traffic collision, and 28th victim of 2021. This is also the 10th pedestrian death of the year.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
