On July 29th 2021, at approximately 9:04 PM, Officers responded to the area of Monterey Road and San Jose Avenue to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
An adult male pedestrian was walking in the northbound lanes of Monterey Road, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was struck by a Honda Civic that was traveling in a northbound direction on Monterey Road. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The adult male driver of the Honda remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor.
This is the 32nd fatal collision and the 33rd victim of 2021. This is the 13th fatal pedestrian collision of 2021.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
