On August 2nd, 2021, at approximately 11:00 PM, Officers responded to the area of North Jackson Avenue and McKee Road to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
An adult male was riding a bicycle northbound on North Jackson Avenue, against a red signal light, when he was struck by a 2014 Jeep that was traveling in a westbound direction on McKee Road. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The adult male driver of the Jeep remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
On the afternoon of August 3rd, 2021, the bicyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This is the 35th fatal collision and the 36th victim of 2021.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
