***UPDATE*** 

The San José Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating and identifying the suspect and vehicle responsible a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on April 1st, 2021. Detective's investigating the incident have released surveillance video of the suspect vehicle moments before the collision.

The vehicle is believed to be similar to a white 2004-2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS. The vehicle would have damage to the front and left side.

On April 1st, 2021, at approximately 11:35 PM, Officers responded to the area of Monterey Highway and Curtner Avenue for an auto versus pedestrian traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following: 

An adult female in a wheelchair was crossing Monterey Highway in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling southbound. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision.  Investigators believe that the suspect vehicle is a white 2004-2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS that will have damage to the front and left side of the vehicle. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. 

This is the 10th fatal traffic collision for 2021. This is the 2nd auto versus pedestrian collision for 2021.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
