On August 25th, 2021, at approximately 3:46 PM, Officers responded to the area of Rogers Avenue and Junction Avenue to investigate a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2000 white Mercury minivan was parked along the west curb line of Rogers Avenue. An adult male began to reverse the vehicle and in doing so collided with an adult female pedestrian. The pedestrian was standing to the rear of the vehicle. The impact caused the pedestrian to fall to the ground. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

On September 7th, 2021, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

This is the 42nd fatal collision and the 43rd victim of 2021. This is the 18th pedestrian death this year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
