***UPDATE*** SJPD Arrests Suspect for Homicide #25

During the investigation it was determined that suspect Smith was the primary suspect responsible for this homicide. He was located and arrested by Patrol Officers on September 11, 2021. He was booked into jail for homicide.

On September 6th, 2021, at approximately 10:43 AM, Officers responded to the 200 block of East Santa Clara Street to conduct a welfare check of an adult male. Arriving Officers were able to enter the apartment.

Inside the apartment they located one adult male suffering from a traumatic injury. The male was declared deceased at the scene.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.

This is the City's 25th homicide of 2021.
