On September 19th, 2021, at approximately 9:34 PM, Officers responded to the area of Yerba Buena Road and Highway 101 to investigate a collision involving three vehicles. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A Toyota Corolla driven by an adult female was driving westbound on Yerba Buena Road when it drifted into the eastbound lanes of the roadway. The Toyota collided head on with a Honda Accord that was traveling eastbound. A third vehicle, a Toyota 4-Runner, collided into the rear of the Honda.
The driver of the Toyota suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Three occupants in the Honda suffered minor injuries, two were transported to local hospitals.
The solo adult female driver in the 4-Runner was uninjured.
This is the 44th fatal collision and the 45th victim of 2021.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
