***UPDATE*** SJPD Arrests Two Suspects for Homicide #29

During this investigation suspects Anzures and Castillo were identified as the primary suspects responsible for this homicide. Suspect Castillo was located and arrested in San José by our Violent Crime Enforcement Team (VCET) and patrol Officers on October 31st, 2021. He is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon and accessory to homicide. Suspect Anzures was located and arrested in San José by our Covert Response Unit (CRU) on November 1st, 2021; he was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.

On October 31st, 2021, at approximately 3:40 PM, Officers responded to the 5200 block of Great Oaks Drive on a report of a person shot. Officers located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The male victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

This is the City's 29th homicide of 2021.
