On October 30th, 2021, at approximately 7:49 PM, Officers responded to the area of McLaughlin Avenue and Tully Road to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2007 Honda sedan driven by and adult male was traveling northbound on McLaughlin Avenue just north of the intersection with Tully Road when it struck an elderly adult male pedestrian who was crossing McLaughlin Avenue outside of any marked crosswalk.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. There is no indication of drugs or alcohol as a factor in this collision.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. On November 5th the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

This is the 52nd fatal collision and the 54th victim of 2021. This is also the 20th pedestrian death of the year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
