On November 29th, 2021, at approximately 10:18 AM, Officers responded to the area of North Bascom Avenue and the on/off ramp of Highway 880 to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2010 Toyota sedan driven by and adult female was traveling southbound on North Bascom Avenue in the number two lane in the area of the Highway 880 when it struck a bicyclist also traveling south in the number two lane. There is no bike lane in this area. The bicyclist was an adult male, and he was towing a small bicycle trailer.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. There is no indication of drugs or alcohol as a factor in this collision.
This is the 53rd fatal collision and the 55th victim of 2021.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
