SJPD Investigating Traffic Fatality #54

On December 6th, 2021, at approximately 7:28 PM, Officers responded to the area of Tully Road and Quimby Road to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2008 Nissan truck driven by an adult male was traveling eastbound on Tully Road in the number three lane when it struck an adult  female pedestrian who was walking outside of a crosswalk. The driver of the Nissan truck fled after the collision. Arriving Officers and paramedics provided life saving measures, but the female succumbed to her injury. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the investigation, Officers identified the suspect vehicle and a possible driver. Approximately three hours after the collision, the suspect surrendered to Officers at SJPD headquarters. There is no indication of drugs or alcohol as a factor in this collision.

This is the 54th fatal collision and the 56th victim of 2021. This is also the 21st pedestrian death of the year.

This investigation will be forwarded to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office for review and final filing of criminal charges. 

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
