On December 16th, 2021, at approximately 3:24 PM, Officers responded to the area of Senter Road and Wool Creek Drive to investigate a collision involving two vehicles. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2005 BMW 530i was traveling northbound on Senter Road when it collided with a 2016 Toyota Prius also traveling northbound in the number three lane. The BMW continued northbound on Senter Road until the vehicle became inoperable. The adult female driver of the BMW had been involved in a separate non-life threatening injury hit-and-run nearby, and is suspected of fleeing the scene of that first crash when the second collision occurred.
Paramedics responded to the scene and provided life saving aid to the adult female driver of the Toyota. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the BMW sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the BMW was arrested and booked at Santa Clara County Main Jail for vehicular manslaughter and two counts of felony hit-and-run.
This is the 56th fatal collision and the 58th victim of 2021.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
