On December 20th, 2021, at approximately 7:00 AM, Officers responded to the area of eastbound McKee Road and the highway 680 on/off ramp to investigate a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2014 Honda sedan was traveling eastbound on McKee Road in the number two lane when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing McKee Road, outside of any marked crosswalk, from north to south across lanes of traffic. A second vehicle, 2013 Mazda sedan, was also traveling eastbound on McKee Road in the number two lane when it also struck the pedestrian.
The adult male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Both drivers remained at the scene after the collision and are cooperating with the investigation.
This is the 58th fatal collision and the 60th victim of 2021. This is also the 23rd pedestrian fatality of the year.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
