On January 2nd, 2022, at approximately 8:05 PM, Officers responded to the area of South White Road and East Hills Drive for a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and three vehicles. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

Vehicle number one, an unidentified dark colored full size sports utility vehicle was driving northbound on South White Road in the number two lane when it struck a pedestrian; the pedestrian was crossing South White Road outside of any marked crosswalk.

A second vehicle, 2021 Toyota SUV, occupied by an adult driver and two passengers, was driving behind vehicle number one. The Toyota also struck the pedestrian who was now laying in the roadway in the number 2 lane. A third vehicle, 2006 GMC SUV, occupied by a solo male driver, was driving behind vehicle number two when it struck the pedestrian as well.

The drivers of the Toyota and GMC remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No alcohol or drug influence was suspected on either driver.

Vehicle number one fled the scene and has yet to be identified.

The adult male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This is the 1st fatal collision and the 1st victim of 2022. This is also the 1st pedestrian fatality of the year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
