On January 5th, 2022, at approximately 6:16 PM, Officers responded to the area of Old Bayshore Highway and Queens Lane for a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A white full size cargo van was traveling southbound on Queens Lane approaching Old Bayshore Highway. The van made a left turn onto eastbound Old Bayshore and collided with a bicyclist who was riding in a yet to be determined direction in the westbound lanes of Old Bayshore. The bicyclist was an adult male.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Vehicle number one fled the scene and has yet to be identified. The vehicle is described as an early 2000's white full size cargo van with a roof rack.
This is the 2nd fatal collision and the 2nd victim of 2022.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
