Public Notification of Arrest

On January 7th, 2021, the San José Police Department was contacted by two female victims who reported being sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect in San José. Follow-up investigation led to the identification and arrest of, Dionte Foster, a homeless male known to frequent downtown San José.

One of the victims took a photo of the suspect after the assault and provided it to detectives. The photo was shared with Patrol Officers who are familiar with the area. An alert Patrol Officer recognized Foster and immediately began to search for him. Foster was located in the area of South Fourth Street and San Carlos Street where he was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested the same day the incidents were reported.

The male was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for multiple counts of Sexual Assault. The investigation also revealed the suspect had been arrested for a similar sexual assault in July of 2021.
