On January 12, 2022, at approximately 8:07 AM, Officers responded to the area of South White Road and Almond Drive to investigate a traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2002 GMC sports utility vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on South White Road in the number 2 lane when it collided with a 2003 Toyota min-van near the intersection with Almond Drive. The Toyota was preparing to make a left-hand turn onto South White Road from Almond Drive when it was struck.

The adult male driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult male driver of the GMC was transported to local hospital where he will be treated for NON-life threatening injuries. Due to the excessive speed, which was a factor in this collision, he will be booked for vehicular manslaughter after being discharged from the hospital.

An adult female passenger in the Toyota was also transported to a local hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

This is the 4th fatal collision and the 4th victim of 2022.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
