On October 7, 2021, at approximately 9:24 PM, Officers responded to the area of Blossom Avenue and Santa Teresa Boulevard for a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorized bicycle. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A Honda sedan, occupied by a solo adult male driver, was driving westbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard just east of the intersection with Blossom Avenue when it collided with a motorized bicycle. The bicycle was being operated by an adult male rider; the bicycle was riding southbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard across lanes of traffic. The driver had an active green light for his direction of travel.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. He was stabilized and released from the hospital sometime after the collision.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There were no indications of drug or alcohol influence with the driver.
The victim was recently admitted into the hospital with complications from injuries attributed to the collision. On January 17th, 2022, the victim was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the traffic collision.
This is the 7th fatal collision and victim number 8 of 2022.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
