On February 2nd, 2022, at approximately 7:49 AM, Officers responded to the 400 block of Fontanelle Court for a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An adult female pedestrian was in the middle of the roadway with her trash cans as a 2008 Peterbilt recycling truck was traveling westbound on Fontanelle Court. The pedestrian walked towards the front of the the truck into the driver's blind spot and was struck. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male driver of the recycling truck remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. There is no indication of drug or alcohol influence.

This is the 10th fatal collision, and 11th victim of 2022. This is also the 8th pedestrian fatality of 2022.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
