On February 10th, 2022, at approximately 8:26 PM, Officers responded to the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Foxworthy Avenue for a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2013 BMW sedan occupied by an adult male driver and an adult female passenger was traveling southbound on Almaden Expressway in the number two lane approaching the intersection with Foxworthy Avenue. The BMW struck an adult male bicyclist that was riding westbound across the intersection in the marked crosswalk. Based on video evidence and witness statements it was determined that the BMW had a green light at the intersection.

The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There are no indications of drug or alcohol influence.

This is the 12th fatal collision, and 13th victim of 2022.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
