On February 15th, 2022, at approximately 1:16 AM, Officers responded to the intersection of San Tomas Expressway and Payne Avenue for a solo motorcycle traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An adult female was operating a motorcycle and traveling southbound on San Tomas Expressway approaching the intersection with Payne Avenue. The motorcyclist left the roadway and collided with the curb and then struck the center median of westbound Payne Avenue. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

This is the 14th fatal collision, and 15th victim of 2022.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
