Between February 2021 and February 2022, the SJPD Burglary Unit investigated over 35 burglaries of commercial business in the City of San José. The suspect used the same criminal pattern to smash the front windows of the businesses, take cash registers and cash, and then flee the scene, oftentimes in stolen vehicles.    

SJPD detectives, who worked in coordination with detectives from the City of Milpitas, were able to identify Suspect Deanda as the person responsible for the burglaries; Deanda was also wanted for at least 20 burglary cases in the City of Milpitas. On February 21, 2022, SJPD Special Operation's Division officers located and arrested Suspect Deanda at a residence in the 4500 block of Houndshaven Way in San José.

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main jail for 44 counts of burglary, nine counts of felony vandalism, grand theft, and additional misdemeanor charges.

Chief of Police Anthony Mata said, “Our exceptional detectives showed their continued tenacity in identifying and arresting another suspect who was victimizing our community. This prolific burglar targeted small businesses who were also affected by the pandemic. We have some of the best detectives and officers in this country. Our department will not give in and will continue combating and investigating these types of crimes.”
