On March 5th, 2022, at approximately 6:40 PM, Officers responded to the area of McLaughlin Avenue and Idlewood Drive for a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2015 Nissan Rogue, driven by a solo adult female driver, was traveling southbound on McLaughlin Avenue in the number one lane. The Nissan struck an adult female pedestrian that was crossing McLaughlin Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk.
The driver of the Nissan remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. No drug or alcohol influence was suspected.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim was stabilized although still suffering from serious injuries.
On March 6th the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This is the 19th fatal collision, and 20th victim of 2022. This is also the 11th pedestrian death of the year.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
