On March 26th, 2022, at approximately 1:53 AM, Officers responded to the area of Lucretia Avenue and Taji Drive on a report of a traffic collision involving a motorized scooter. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2017 Honda sedan, grey in color, was traveling northbound on Lucretia Avenue in the number one lane when it collided with an unknown make motorized scooter that was also traveling northbound on Lucretia Avenue in the number one lane. The collision occurred just south of Taji Drive. After colliding with the scooter, the Honda fled the scene.

A second vehicle, an unknown make and model white mid-size sports utility vehicle, also traveling northbound on Lucretia Avenue, struck the downed rider of the scooter. The SUV also fled the scene.

The rider of the scooter, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Shortly after arriving he was pronounced deceased.

This incident is now being investigated as a felony hit and run.

This is the 23rd fatal collision, and 24th victim of 2022.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
