On April 7th, 2022, at approximately 6:26 PM, Officers responded to the area of Ocala Avenue and Oakton Court to investigate a hit and run collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
The vehicle was a newer, unknown year, red pick-up truck. The truck was traveling westbound on Ocala Avenue in the number one lane when it struck two adult female pedestrians who were crossing Ocala Avenue in a southbound direction. Both pedestrians were in a marked crosswalk when they were struck.
Immediately after the collision the driver fled the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on Capitol Expressway.
Both pedestrians were transported to local hospitals with major injuries. Shortly after arriving they were both pronounced deceased.
This incident is now being investigated as a felony hit and run.
This is the 24th fatal collision, and 25th and 26th traffic death of 2022. Additionally, these are the 13th and 14th pedestrian fatalities of the year.
The identity of the victims will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
