On May 5th, 2022, at approximately 7:58 AM, Officers responded to the 1200 Block of Lennon Way to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2012 Isuzu work truck, driven by an adult male driver, was driving southbound on Lennon Way and pulling up to the driveway of a residence that was under construction. A 2014 BMW was stopped behind the truck as it began to back up intending to unload supplies. The truck driver collided with the BMW as it was backing, continued backing into the driveway, and struck an adult male pedestrian, pinning him between the rear of the truck and a parked car in the driveway. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he was declared deceased. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, and did not display any alcohol or drug impairment.
This is the 30th fatal collision, and the 32nd traffic death of 2022. This is also the 18th pedestrian fatality.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
