SJPD Seizes 60+ Firearms from Homicide Suspect

On Saturday May 21, 2022, Officers responded to a reported firearm brandishing incident in the area of Blossom Hill Road and Snell Avenue. During a road rage incident, the suspect displayed a firearm in a threatening manner at a victim. The suspect fled and was not identified.

Detectives from the SJPD Assaults Unit investigated the incident. During the investigation, detectives identified Suspect Thai as the person responsible for brandishing the firearm. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and authored a search warrant for his residence.

On June 8, 2022, the Assaults unit executed a search warrant at Suspect Thai’s residence located in the 400 block of War Admiral Avenue. During the search, detectives discovered over 65 firearms, approximately 25 of them were illegal assault weapons, at least 2 were privately made firearms, and 2 were determined to be stolen. Detectives also collected multiple high-capacity magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, Thai was already in custody from a previous arrest as a suspect in the City's 13th homicide of 2022.

In addition to the homicide charges, suspect Thai also faces several more illegal firearm charges. He remains in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
