SJPD Investigating Homicide #17

On June 21st, 2022, at approximately 7:11 PM, Officers responded to the 1400 block of Mount Shasta Drive on a call of a person shot. When Officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local hospital with a life-threatening injury. Shortly after arriving he was pronounced deceased.

After this incident, the suspect traveled to the City of Modesto where he committed a second homicide. The victim in that case was an adult female. Please contact the Modesto Police Department for details on that investigation.

The identity of the deceased victim in San José will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

On the morning of June 22nd, the suspect was involved in an Officer involved shooting; he was shot at least one time and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A detailed press briefing will be conducted in the coming days with more information.

This is the City's 17th homicide of 2022. This was also SJPD’s third Officer involved shooting of 2022.
