On June 28th, 2022, at approximately 4:46 AM, Officers responded to the area of South Jackson Avenue and Kammerer Avenue to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A black sedan, possibly a 2008-2011 Honda Civic, was traveling northbound on South Jackson Avenue when it struck an adult female pedestrian that was crossing eastbound in the roadway. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver fled the scene and remains unidentified.
This incident is being investigated as a felony hit and run.
This is the 33rd fatal collision, and the 35th traffic death of 2022. This is also the 21st pedestrian fatality.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
