On June 28th, 2022, at approximately 5:04 PM, Officers responded to the area of Arden Way and Leeward Drive to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2005 Nissan SUV, occupied by a lone adult female driver, was traveling eastbound on Arden Way when it struck an adult female pedestrian who was crossing Leeward Drive in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
This is the 35th fatal collision, and the 37th traffic death of 2022. This is also the 22nd pedestrian fatality.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
