On June 3rd, 2022, at approximately 8:54 PM, Officers responded to the area of Monterey Road and Branham Lane to investigate a traffic collision involving a sports utility vehicle and a motorcycle. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2005 Suzuki motorcycle, ridden by an adult male, was traveling northbound on Monterey Road when it ran a red light at the intersection with Branham Lane. The motorcycle collided with a 2002 Mercury SUV occupied by a lone adult male driver. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercury remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. The motorcycle in this incident was reported stolen prior to this collision.
On July 1st, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
This is the 36th fatal collision, and the 38th traffic death of 2022.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
