SJPD Arrests Suspect for Homicide #19

On June 18th, 2022, at approximately 4:25 AM, Officers responded to a local hospital to investigate an assault and battery incident. When Officers arrived, they met and took a statement from an adult male who reported being assaulted by a male suspect. At the time of the report and initial investigation the victim’s injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

On June 27th, the victim succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

On June 30th, suspect Greg Kirk, who detectives identified as being responsible for the assault was arrested at his residence in San José. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

This is the City's 19th homicide of 2022.
