On July 12th, 2022, at approximately 9:34 PM, Officers responded to the 100 block of South Market Street on a report of a woman being physically assaulted. When they arrived, they found an adult female victim suffering from at least one stab wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect fled and was not located. Preliminary information is that the victim was a homeless individual.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
This is the City's 21st homicide of 2022.
