On July 17th, 2022, at approximately 11:13 PM, Officers responded to the area of Story Road and Kollmar Drive to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
An unknown year dark colored mini-van was traveling eastbound on Story Road in the number two lane when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was standing in the roadway. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk. The driver fled the scene and has not been located or identified. The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.
This is the 37th fatal collision, and the 39th traffic death of 2022. This is also the 23rd pedestrian fatality.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
