On September 20th, 2022, at approximately 3:20 PM, SJPD patrol Officers responded to a call of domestic violence in the 1000 block of Malott Drive. The victim/survivor reported that her husband, suspect Redeker, had strangled her and threatened her with a firearm. The victim fled the residence and called 911. During the investigation it was revealed that the suspect had multiple firearms registered to him.
A plan was put in place to safely take the suspect into custody. At approximately 4:45 PM, the suspect exited the residence and had a firearm in his waistband. The suspect was taken into custody with the use of a police service dog.
During a sweep of the interior of the residence Officers discovered what appeared to be evidence of firearms assembling and manufacturing. A search warrant was obtained and a cache of firearms and parts, as well as tools to machine parts, were found in the residence. One illegal, short barreled assault rifle was also seized. At this time, it is believed the suspect was not only assembling and manufacturing firearms but was also selling them illegally. The suspect is not a licensed firearms dealer.
The suspect will be booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for numerous weapons violations, felony domestic violence, and assault with a deadly weapon after being released from the hospital for injuries sustained during the arrest.
The San José Police Department would like to thank the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and our Crime Strategies Unit for their assistance and collaboration with this case.
