***UPDATE*** SJPD Arrests Suspect for Homicide #29

Homicide Detectives conducted a comprehensive and thorough investigation following this stabbing incident. As a result, suspect Nhan Vinh Chi, 44 years old and a resident of San José, was identified as the person responsible for this murder.

On Sunday October 23rd, the Department’s Covert Response Unit took the suspect into custody at a residence in the city of Sunnyvale. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.

On October 22, 2022, at approximately 2:06 AM, Officers responded to the 1700 block of McKee Road on a report of a person stabbed. When they arrived, they found an adult male, suffering from at least one stab wound. Life saving measures were administered. The male victim succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect remains at large.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.

The identity of the deceased victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

This is the City's 29th homicide of 2022.
